Contemporary, visionary, and just a tad melancholic, flâneur is infused with the green, faintly bitter scent of absinthe. Contrasted by the warmth of cashmere wood, linden and almond blossom, along with fresh bergamot, elegant cedarwood, and a supportive base of star anis, dry amber and vetiver, it’s a dry, but warm scent that is both nostalgic and dizzyingly present.

MY THOUGHTS

27 87 Perfumes Flanêur is linden blossom dominant scent with notoriously woody punch. I am a long term admirer of linden blossom and am familiar with its scent too well by now. We had linden tree under our window so every summer when our windows were open we could enjoy this sweet fluffy honeyed aroma every day while the tree bloomed. This bottle was destined to meet me.

For a while I was staring at Genetic Bliss which was a more silky rebirth of Kilian’s Sacred Wood, and was surprised to found out Flaneur carries the same DNA only with a floral top. If I would have to explain how it feels, I’d have to drag the Diptyque Fleur de Peau out of my memories too. Imagine that being mixed with Sacred Wood. It is probably the closest idea of how it wears on me after initial floral opening.

This scent had exceeded my expectations and made it home with me. It can be very controversial due to the notes presentation, which I experience as fiercely inaccurate to describe this scent. There is powder and dry feel to this scent so yeah iris and almond are on board and accounted for. And yet there is beautiful silky woodiness in the base that I can only pick out as sandalwood and white woods mix. Ambroxan & cashmeran? Most likely.

Syrupy touches of sweet florals in the top are really elegant and quite once 10 minutes pass, it subsides to give more room to the woodiness. For some uncanny reason I get zero ambergris, absinthe and vetiver. Is my nose broken? Maybe. Anyhow, I love it!

I do believe as a house 27 87 have very hard task to achieve. Modern take on things and carrying contemporary ideas is not an easy task. When do many are used to conventional perfumery, it is hard to set the tempo and break new grounds like Ganymede last year. Needless to say this was an impactful scent for me. Welcome home baby!
