LINGUA PLANTA
OFFICIAL BRAND INTRODUCTION
Scientists have discovered that plants communicate with one another through a language of scent. This is Lingua Planta. We translated their language into unique perfumes with all things natural for our mind, heart, and noses.
By experiencing the fragrances of Lingua Planta, you can immerse yourself in the language of nature and connect with the world around you in a new and profound way. So come, join us on a journey of discovery, and let the language of scent transport you to a world of wonder and beauty.
For centuries, humans have considered themselves to be superior to other species, but recent research has challenged this notion. Scientists have discovered that plants communicate with one another and with other organisms through a language of scent.
This revelation offers a new perspective on the natural world and highlights the complexity and interconnectedness of all living things. Lingua Planta represents a profound shift in our understanding of the plant kingdom and challenges us to rethink our relationship with nature.
To celebrate the intelligence of plants and to evoke a perspective shift, we’ve created a line of perfumes chosen with plant ethics in mind. Our perfumes are crafted with care and attention to detail, ensuring that each fragrance is of the highest quality & friendly to all of Earth’s inhabitants.
With love,

MY THOUGHTS
UNDERSTORY
Violet Leaf | Bergamot | Balsam Fir
Sandalwood | Lavender Absolute | Dark Patchouli
Orris Butter | Oakmoss Absolute | Frankincense
Upon the opening this is a patchouli heaven, I am usually very strict with this particular element on my skin as it often turns very dodgy on me. However in Understory it is dark and rooty, thanks to the added vetiver. Light sweetness of woods and dusty touch of iris make it very interesting scent to experience. Lavender shows up more towards the end. The feel of Understory is very artisanal and as with every scent in Merle’s collection it is about the undergrowth, dark damp base of the forest filled with aromas of rich fertile soil. To my nose it is very unisex, conveying feeling of calm that you experience during walk outdoors. And I would love to see this fragrance in scented wax or candle form or even bath salts. Because it is such an atmospheric relaxing scent.
REPEL
Lemon | Grapefruit | Red Clementine | Bergamot
Galbanum | Black Pepper | Peppers | Lavender absolute
Vetiver | Clary Sage
Herbaceous green, the opening of the Repel is not my favourite start. Citruses are weighed down by vetiver and my mind wants them to be loose and fizzy, happy smelling, as I know them from tasting and smelling them in real life. Instead, start is earthy and heavy. Few minutes after, when distracting vetiver fades into the background, Lemon and Bergamot set themselves free and Repel unveils into direction that I am much more happy with. Invigorating, energizing. Sweet lavender, sunshine, sage, it becomes so beautiful and hopeful, optimistic even. Like walking in the summer through a meadow or a garden, it smells of warm sunshine and open space. If not for heavy dense gloomy start of it, Repel would be my nr.1 recommendation from Lingua Planta line.
DEFEND
Mown Grass | Black Pepper | Eucalyptus
Virginia cedarwood | Galbanum | Pine resin
Agarwood | Benzoe resin | Oakmoss absolute
Wow what a start! Sappy mentholated green, effervescent and sweet at the same time. I immediately imagine clover buds and eucalyptus. It has a soft vanillic tinge right at the start that miraculously dissipates. Galbanum and pine fir come in its place, woody saw-dusty. I really like the transitions of Defend. Smooth and buttery for such polarising notes. As the scent melts into dry down I catch warm of benjoin and mystery coffee accord. Our is present in this composition and winks at me in the base as well. Rich, woody and not barnyard’y, it is that little fine nuance sending the Defend even more into woody category. Overall, it is intricate and well-thought composition that will turn heads.
ATTRACT
Linden blossom | Rose Geranium | Ho wood
Rose Absolute | Patchouli | Mimosa
Labdanum resin | Immortelle | Ambrette Seed
Fresh green roses are being cut and crushed with their twigs in the opening of Attract. Dense dark red petals and Bulgarian rose buds are in the same grinder spreading the rich cloud of sweet rose water. Stems covered in ashes and soil are left out but are as intense smelling. Soft whiffs of petrichor and spices, is someone making a balm? Or maybe a jam? Really beautiful contrast of sweet woods, immortelle and rose. If you love rose-patchouli combo, do get your nose on this beautiful composition. It is my favourite from the house!
HENOSIS
Smoke | Birch tar | Camphor
Cedarwood | Vetiver | Ambrette seeds
Frankincence | Benzoin Siam | Myrrh
Well hello gorgeous! If you enjoy Hiram’s Hyde and Nose Perfumes Lumberman, Henosis falls into the same category of dark animalic woody leathers. At least at the start. Campfire-hot coals burning opening is so damn realistic. As of 10 minutes, the fragrance shifts deep into the woods. Literally and figuratively. When Hiram’s and Timur’s scents leap towards certain level of sweetness in the base, Henosis becomes more woody and green. I swear I can smell fern fields in there. Resinous base is keeping the composition within the woody atmosphere. To me the notes transition on skin resembles forest awakening at dawn. I picture a humid early fall Scandinavian woods filled with morning dew. Lone camper is setting fresh fire near the river bed, making morning tea. He is there, escaping city life, enjoying the view of the river catching the very first rays of sun hitting the surface of the water.
